Quilt Candy in the Courtyard is an outdoor, tented event held during the popular Lowell Quilt Festival. It features a full range of needlecrafts, fiber art, knitted, woven and felted items, embroidery, embellishments, and all manner of creative cloth! It will be held on August 13, rain or shine, during the Lowell Quilt Festival in the shaded, brick-lined courtyard conveniently located between the National Historical Park Visitor Center, the Brush Art Gallery and Studios and the Lowell Art and Design Center in the heart of Lowell's arts district.
Important Dates/Deadlines:
- July 15 Application due
- July 22 Notification of acceptance by jury
- July 29 Artist confirms space reservation

- Saturday, August 13, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, rain or shine
Selection:
In order to ensure the quality and aesthetics of this exhibition, assistance will be provided by a six-member jury of qualified arts professionals. Your information and samples of your work may be submitted on-line using the form below.
Details:
- Non-refundable entry fee of $20.00. No booth fee.
- Sharing spaces is permitted, but each participating artist must submit an application, images and be must juried.
- Withdrawal/Surrender your space. After notification of acceptance, you will be asked to confirm no later than July 29 that you will be participating. If we do not receive confirmation by that date your space will be given to the next person on the waiting list.

Quilt Candy in the Courtyard Details
General Information:
- Event Dates: Saturday, August 11, noon - 5:00 pm rain or shine (during the Lowell Quilt Festival)
- Space: Space will be assigned in the order applications are received and to ensure that different media are distributed in such a way as to avoid duplication. It is understood and agreed that Quilt Candy in the Courtyard is providing 10x10 space. Exhibitor provides own tent, chairs and any table(s), structure(s) needed for the exhibitor’s area must be provided by exhibitor and removed by 6:00 p.m., August 13, 2012 leaving the immediate space clean.
- Security: Exhibitor is responsible for security of artwork and belongings
- Indemnity Agreement: In consideration of the acceptance of this application, I agree to comply with the rules and hold harmless The Brush Art Gallery, The Lowell Quilt Festival, The National Park or any partnering sponsors or organizations from any loss or damage to persons or property arising out of our participation in Quilt Candy in the Courtyard to be held in the National Park Market Mills Courtyard on August 13, 2012. By submitting my application, I agree to these terms.
- Held in conjunction with the Lowell Quilt Festival.
- Held in the brick-lined, shaded courtyard between the National Park Visitors' Center, the Brush Art Gallery & Artists’ Studios and the Lowell Art and Design Center
- Free to public
- Public restrooms on both sides of courtyard
- Many restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance
- Correspondence and notification will be done entirely by e-mail, so please make sure to check your e-mail frequently.
Restrictions:
- exhibitor must provide own tent, tables, chairs and exhibition structures
- exhibitor must limit displays to his/her assigned 10 x 10 booth space
- no commercial items for resale, kits, imported or consigned goods, no recordings or CDs
- crafts must be produced by the exhibitor
- duplicate crafts will be limited as far as possible
- exhibitors must remain for entire show; no early breakdowns.
- please plan for sufficient inventory
- no alcoholic beverages
- items for sale must be appropriate for family viewing
- exhibitor is responsible for handling own sales
- exhibitor is responsible for collecting and forwarding Massachusetts sales tax to Mass. Dept. of Revenue
