CALLING ALL CHOCOHOLICS! Don’t miss this deliciously sinful screening of the acclaimed, enchanted Lasse Halstrom film that honors the chocolate beast in us all: Chocolat. This whimsical, moral tale starring Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Lena Olin, Alfred Molina, and Dame Judi Dench has earned a sweet spot as one of the best foodie films to hit the screen. Binoche plays the luminous Vianne, a wayfaring chocolatier who, like her ancestors, finds herself drifting hither and yon across France with her young, daydreaming daughter Anouk. When Vianne and Anouk find themselves in a quaint, prudish French village, they open up a delightful chocolaterie right in the village square to the dismay and wonder of the onlooking locals. It is through Vianne’s wisdom and sensual charm that we see inside the wistful lives of the villagers. And so the story unfolds.

Nominated for numerous Academy and Golden Globe awards, Chocolat is the perfect way to end an early evening of pure chocolate heaven. Before the 7PM film screening at the National Park Visitor Center, sample a variety of sugary and savory, chocolatey goodies at The Brush Gallery & Artists Studios from 5:30 – 7PM as part of the Gallery’s first fundraiser of the year. For just $10 per per person, you’ll enjoy a variety of all-you-can-eat treats while mingling with like-minded, cocoa-loving guests. Your $10 admission to the event ALSO gets you admission to Chocolat.

Before the Fundraiser – FREE EVENT!
4-5PM: “Chocolate: Mexican Style“

featuring
Taza Chocolate & Mexican restauranteurs from Lowell’s Mr. Jalapeno

Before the fundraiser, come to Lowell National Historical Park for a separate presentation, “Chocolate: Mexican Style,” with Alex Whitmore of Taza Chocolate and Mexican restauranteurs Ricardo and Maria Candiani, owners of Lowell’s Mr. Jalapeno. This FREE event ends just in time for guests to make their way to the Brush’s chocolate tasting.

It’s no coincidence that we’re hosting this event with the Brush Gallery and National Park Service on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, so eat a late lunch and bring your sweetie (or sweet-loving friends and neighbors) to this fabulous evening event and come support a great local art gallery. And don’t let the “Chick Flick and Chocolate” moniker dissuade you from bringing the special guys in your life: husbands, brothers, fathers, and sons are ESPECIALLY welcomed!

Stay tuned to this page for updates on the evening’s festivities as the date draws near.
